HANDLEBAR BICYCLE CLUB SATURDAY SOCIAL RIDES
Meet at Handlebar Cyclery at 7:00am. Riders roll out by 7:30am (please be on time).
A one-time ride waiver must be filled out and provided to the shop prior to the start and must be signed prior to participation in our group rides.
Routes will be posted on the club Facebook page and/or subject to change weekly. Routes range from 25 35 and 45 miles but additional mileage can always be added depending on the day and the group.
We have one hydration break at around 18 miles and a full rest stop at the Shell petrol station in Fulshear (approx. 29 miles into the ride).
We typically arrive back at the store before 10:30am.
We ride every Saturday weather permitting or if there is already a scheduled organized ride. We will notify ahead of time of any change or cancellation.
This is an open ride for beginner intermediate and experienced level riders usually an A B+ B and C group. REVIEW GROUP RIDE MATRIX
We may separate into small groups if a few riders want to go different paces or slightly different route. If you exceed the advertised pace and break from the group you will be on your own.
A and B groups are tempo rides if you are not able to keep the pace or have mechanical issues the group will continue riding.A rider will usually accompany you if you experience a flat or mechanical. Please know your own riding ability and ride with the applicable group.
IF YOU HAVE NEVER RIDDEN IN A GROUP RIDE OR A NOVICE WE REQUIRE YOU TO RIDE WITH OUR NO-DROP BEGINNER C GROUP
We will make sure you get back to the starting point safely and will regulate the pace of the group depending on ride conditions that day. The ride is lead by experience cyclists with good local knowledge. (Please note you should be fit enough to ride 15/20 miles).
A bicycle in good mechanical and proper working condition.
A cycling helmet (MANDATORY!)
Appropriate clothing and footwear. We recommend cycling apparel and foot ware whenever possible however comfortable fitting athletic apparel and sports shoes are acceptable.
Proper hydration & nutrition.
Spare tube & tube repair kit.
Cellular telephone (ICE)
The ability to keep pace & cycle the distance.
No earphones or earbuds (prescription hearing aids are permitted).
Safety is priority one! We recommend utilizing front and rear blinking lights to increase visibility a multi-tool for adjustments a phone in the event of an emergency and perhaps a cycling computer.
